Just for clarity, Jay was shot in the left arm. Comments: Bob talks a lot in this one. It's almost out of character, but I'll leave that up to the readers, you. Dedication: This one's for all the people that didn't give up on me while waiting for this. *G* Date: Jay held Bob's hand tightly as they barely managed to navigate through the busy airport, trying to follow Rufus and Serendipity. Eventually they reached the terminal, handed over their tickets and boarded the plane. "What the fuck is up with Vegas anyway?"Jay shrugged at Silent Bob,"And what the hell is this temple shit about?" Bob shrugged, handing Jay a pair of headphones for the in-flight movie. Three rows back, Serendipity and Rufus tried not to argue too much. "We have to tell them..."the muse grumbled. "No, we don't." Rufus replied,"Once we get to the temple and the ritual is done, *then* we have to tell them. Until then, I think it would be in our best interest to forget it." "It isn't fair to lead them into this and expect them to understand!" Serendipity replied. "They don't have to understand, this is the work of God!" Rufus sighed, then put on his headphones signaling the end of the conversation. * * * * * The Metatron sighed as he tucked Bethany into bed, feeling guilty for hiding the situation. "Are you okay?" Bethany smiled softly; "You seem a little upset." Metatron sighed again, he knew the situation would have to be explained eventually..."Bethany, I have some less-than-good news." "What is it?"the scion suddenly looked very worried. "It's about your baby...and you." the angel settled into the bed beside his ward. "What's wrong with my baby?" Bethany began to panic. "Nothing." Metatron took her hand in his to soothe the news;"The thing is we need you to...go away for a while for protection from certain small expected problems." "And you want me to go because of the baby." Bethany nodded. "No. Bethany, God works in mysterious ways...and well." Metatron tried to find a way to soften the blow, but failed, "The baby needs to be transferred to another body...for it's protection." "What?" Bethany sat upright; "It's my baby!" "Bethany, understand...you are in grave danger. If something should happen to you, which it probably won't, God wants to be sure the baby is safe." Bethany sighed; "Do I even know the woman?" "We needed someone nobody would expect..." Metatron bit into his lower lip. "So I don't even know her?" Bethany sighed in frustration. "Actually, you've met..." Metatron paused, then finished, "him." "Him?" Bethany's eyes flashed with near rage, "A man?!" "Okay, fine. We're worried about you and the baby...so, She wants the zygote to be transferred from you into the prophet Jay." Metatron frowned. "That's impossible." Bethany began to calm once more. "Not when God's involved." Metatron responded simply, "We have a flight to Las Vegas in the morning...sleep up." * * * * * "Okay guys, here's you room." Rufus smirked, "Make sure you get some sleep...you have a long day ahead tomorrow." Jay smirked and locked the door once Rufus was gone. "Fuck man..." he slid off his shirt with his right arm and touched the dressing on his shoulder. "Fuckin hurts..." Bob quickly went to his man and began to remove the damp bandage, then replaced it with a new one. "You need to calm down...maybe you'll clot better lying down." Jay cracked another grin and gently kissed his lover. "I don't know what I'd fuckin do without you." Bob directed Jay toward the bed and helped him into a propped up laying position. "Do you need another pain pill?" "Screw the painkillers, light up a fatty, Tubs." Jay licked his lower lip. "I don't think so." Bob slid into a sitting position next to Jay and palmed one of the pain pills for him. "The chemicals are bad for healing wounds." "Take all the fucking fun out of it." Jay sighed and took the pill with a sip of minibar vodka placed conveniently by the large bed. "Hey, I'm letting you drink...I'm just trying to help you get better..." Bob sighed, curling up on the double bed with one leg wrapped around Jay's. Jay rolled up onto his good shoulder so he could look into Bob's deep eyes. He looked down, "I know..." Gently he ran his left hand over Bob's, then let their fingers intertwine. "Feel up to a fairly decent fuck?" Bob smirked and rolled his eyes, obviously Jay hadn't changed much. "I don't know...if your shoulder's hurting..." "Shit man...ain't nothin a little nookie couldn't cure." Jay grinned, pressing himself close and coming in for another small kiss. Bob shook his propped up head; he had to admit Jay looked cute when he got the pleading look in his eyes. After another gentle kiss, he pressed his fingers to Jay's soft lips; "Tomorrow...I want to wait until that wound is healed a little more." Jay frowned, "No blunt, no deep dicking...this fuckin sucks." Bob traced a gentle line over Jay's profile, "I just want what's best for you..." Jay kissed his lover again, brining up his hand and petting the facial hair lightly. "Careful." Bob pulled away, gently pushing the arm back so as not to disturb the bandage. Jay pouted; "I just wanted to touch you..." A dreamy smile crossed Bob's face, then he ran his arm into Jay's sweatpants and gently stroked the creamy thighs. "I'll touch you." "Oooh." Jay kissed his lover again, pressing into the eager hand as it stroked up his thighs. Slowly, Bob stroked the hard cock, gaining ultimate pleasure from his lover's grunts and groans. The breath caught in Jay's throat and he let out a long hiss, "Fuuuck..." Alternating speeds from fast to slow and back again; Bob stroked with expertise one could only get from watching the blonde jerk off time after time. With a drawn out whimper, Jay came, slumping into Bob's large frame. Bob withdrew his slick hand and wiped it on the outside of the sweat pants, he knew he'd have to clean it up later anyway. Then, with tender patience, he held Jay up so he wouldn't lie on the shoulder. Hopefully Jay would fall asleep soon...Bob needed to ask a few questions of their escorts. * * * * * "I'm worried about Jay." Serendipity sighed into a cappuccino as she and Rufus got acquainted with their double occupancy. "Why?" Rufus shrugged. "Let me think." Serendipity replied sarcastically, "He was shot last night, and he'll be pregnant by sunset!" "It's all part of the prophecy and their destiny, Serendipity. God told us that it would happen." Rufus shrugged. "Why does the baby need to be moved anyway?"the muse asked. Rufus shrugged again, "Protection I suppose...though it is possible that Bethany may be...well, you know." "No, I don't know!" Serendipity threw up her arms, "You two never told me the whole story." "Well, we each know little bits...but from what I've gathered there was supposed to be a uniting, Jay and Bob. Then, a disturbance, the reappearance of Bartleby and Loki thanks to the still living Azreal. Then something else I haven't been told yet. Lastly, a miracle...Jay's giving birth." Rufus stood and got himself a small bottle of macadamia nuts from the minibar. "I think the unclear one is something with the scion." Suddenly it all came clear to the muse and a sudden wave of grief hit her. She left the room in tears. * * * * * "Are you okay?" Bob entered the hall in time to see the weeping muse come flying out the door. "I just got some horrible news..." Serendipity cried harder. "Do you want to talk about it?" Bob asked, then escorted the woman to the nearly empty lounge downstairs. "I'm sorry..." the muse wiped away the last of the tears. "You can go back to Jay if you want..." "No, it's all right. He's sleeping like a baby." Bob smiled. "It's amazing how you handle that man..." the muse felt the quick hysteria slipping away. "Well, I love him. I suppose when you love someone as deeply as I feel for Jay..." he shrugged. "Yeah." The muse shook her head gently, smiling slightly at the irony of it all...it was obvious even though Jay had to carry the child Bob would play 'Mom'. After ordering coffee for both, Bob finally got to the point. "So what's going on here? I know it's the whole prophets thing...probably directly linked to our destiny...but how does it all fit together?" After a few moment's though, Serendipity decided Bob should at least know what the pair was being pretty much forced to do. "I think Azreal is going to use Bartleby and Loki to kill Bethany." "They can't do that! What about the baby? Aren't they both under Her protection?" Bob's mind whirred. "See, that's the thing. If I've gotten the whole story correctly, She can't do much to protect the descendants...some biblical catch-22. That's where the temple comes in." "The temple we're going to?" "Precisely. Metatron has to perform certain...duties to insure the child's safety." "Say that again, but without the ambiguous nature." "The fetus must be transferred to another mother." "You?" Bob raised an eyebrow; the genitaless muse was the closet thing to a female he'd been introduced to. Serendipity laughed, "Oh no, it would take more than an act of God to get me pregnant." Then after draining her drink she let out the truth, "The baby is to be transferred to Jay." Bob spat out a sip of black coffee, "Jay? As in *my* Jay? I hate to break it to you...but men can't get pregnant." "Well, since it is an act of *God*, I assume She will find a way. I would think that if the entire uterus set up were transferred some how, and the birth was by Caesarian section..." "No, absolutely not...Jay wouldn't! I mean...he's been through so much and now you want to put him through complex surgery!" "There wouldn't be any surgery involved until the birth...the transfer will be through faith." "Faith?" Bob raised an eyebrow. "Yes. Metatron will perform the ritual. That's why we have to go to the temple. Under normal conditions we could have done it anywhere else...but with Bartleby and Loki running around we don't want to take any chances." Bob let his face rest in his hands. Then, after a long period of silent thought, he spoke again, "So Bethany will die?" The muse's once happy demeanor became sullen again and she nodded gently, "I think she will. Nobody knows the details for certain, but it is said in the prophecy that you and Jay will raise the scion." Bob nodded, absorbing the information. "I think I understand...but I know Jay...well, this isn't exactly up his alley." "I don't know why She picked him in the first place..." Bob suddenly felt threatened, "Jay can be *very* maternal if he wants to be. He protects his own, being me for now." Serendipity backed off a little, then added, "Besides, he will always have you to fall back on." Bob shook his head and let out a sigh as he lit up a cig. After he had smoked a couple, he stood up and slid back into his long jacket. "You know, this shit just keeps getting weirder..." "Hey," Serendipity shrugged from her seat, "How do you think Noah or Moses felt?" * * * * * Time flew by quickly and soon the Metatron and Bethany arrived in Vegas. "It's almost 6." the angel sighed; "we need to get to the temple before 8." "I don't feel too good about this, I *really* don't get a positive feeling." Bethany settled into the seat behind the wheel of the rental car. "That's just because you're going to have to lose part of you...it's to be expected." Metatron gazed out the window, not wanting to look at the scion. "It will soon be over with." * * * * * "What's this shit?" Jay pushed away the apostle that was trying to blindfold him. "I have to blindfold you both...to keep the temple's location a secret." Rufus sighed. Jay looked to Bob, "What do you think? Should we let the kinky motherfucker do it?" Bob lowered his head, then nodded slightly. "Okay, fine. If Silent Bob says it's okay...then I guess I'll go with it." Jay shrugged. "Rufus..." Serendipity poked her head in the door, "It's time." * * * * * "So, when are you going to tell me what the fuck this is about?" Jay ranted as he felt the car moving. "Rufus..." Bob sighed, "we want you to tell us." "Only if you promise not to back out." Rufus shook his head, "What the hell, you two can't back out anyway...it being destiny and all." "When we get to the temple..." Serendipity began, "Metatron will lead you through the ritual, then we do it for real." "The ritual for what?" Jay was straining against his seat belt, trying to get closer to the pair. "Jay," Rufus sighed, "Bethany is going to die soon. We needed someone to carry the baby, and being a prophet it's your holy duty..." "Bethany's going to die?" Jay was in a state of total shock, "What the fuck?" "It's part of the prophecy." Serendipity solemnly replied. "She has to ascend to take her place with God." "But what about the baby?" Jay could feel himself holding back the tears. "Through the ritual, the fetus will be transplanted..." Rufus let out another sigh, "into you." "What?" Jay's voice screeched, "I can't have a fuckin kid! The fucking plumbing is all wrong..." "Doesn't anybody believe in miracles anymore?" Rufus replied, "She will take care of the logistics, hence the ritual." "But...but...I can't...I'm not a fucking mother..." A myriad of conflicting emotions pulsed through Jay, "I can't do it..." "Yes, we can." Bob searched for Jay's hand and grasped it blindly; "I'll be there...always. You don't have to do this alone..." Jay bit into his lip as the car slid to a stop. "Rufus, I want you to promise me one thing..." "Within reason..." Rufus added. Jay squeezed Bob's hand tightly, "Before the baby is born, before I even start to show...I want a wedding." "What?" Serendipity jumped back into the conversation, "A *wedding*?" "I love Silent Bob." He bit into his lip, then finished the thought, "And I want a huge *white* wedding with everyone there." Rufus shook his head as he unloaded the duo from the car and led them into the temple. "Fine, we'll discuss it once this is over." Bob spoke up; "We want the answer now." Serendipity looked to Rufus, then back to the prophets as the blindfolds were removed. "We can do it." Rufus shrugged, "If you go through with this." Jay smirked and nodded; "Snooch to the nooch...lets get this fuckin shindig on the road..." * * * * * Jay, Bethany and Metatron discussed the situation in the main cathedral, each getting their instructions clear, while the other three stood by. "So, you just lay there. Any questions?" Metatron asked gently. "Okay, so once the fetus has left her, what do I say?" Jay wanted to make certain things went as smoothly as possible. "She says, 'With God as my witness, I turn over this child in me.', then, you reply, 'With God as my witness, I accept the child into my body.' Got it?" Metatron clarified. "Yes." Bethany nodded. "I think so." Jay replied, bobbing his head. "Okay, positions everybody!!!" Metatron stepped back to the raised dais as Jay and Bethany took their places on the twin ivory slabs. Bob took Rufus and Serendipity by the hand, then led them to stand behind the high angel. The ceremony began. Metatron began chanting in some unknown language and making elaborate gestures. Then, he stepped down off the platform and placed his hands on Jay's abdomen. "This tender vessel, the prophet Jay, gives his body for the life he shall receive. He gives of his own will and love." Metatron switched to English. Then, he placed his hands on Bethany's abdomen. "The scion Bethany understands her destiny and that she is to ascend and leave her child. She gives her child freely to take her place with God." Serendipity saw the look of horror on Bethany's face...the poor woman just now understood that she was not going away in the sense of a vacation...rather dying to ascend. Bob squeezed the hands he held and closed his eyes, praying for everything to go right. Then, the temple went dark and single ray of light came from Bethany's uterus, then arced over to Jay's body, making a single arc of light "With God as my witness, I turn over this child in me." Bethany whispered, tears streaming down her face. "By God's will and power, let this be done!" Metatron commanded, throwing his arms up. * * * * * Bethany screamed as she felt her body being ripped apart. She felt everything, then nothing. As she saw the ray of light, then she saw the face of God. "Am I? Am I..." "You have ascended my child." God spoke, then placed a gentle kiss to the scion's forehead. "You are where you belong." "But what about my baby?" tears ran down Bethany's face as she wept for herself and her child. "Shhh..." God placed a gentle finger to the woman's lips, "She will be fine...have faith in the prophets." "Faith..." Bethany felt a weak smile rising to her lips, "her name is Faith." * * * * * Jay screamed as he felt a warm pain ripping through his stomach, then spreading throughout his entire body. "I think I'm gonna die!!!" He yelled, the pain consuming him "The words Jay! Say the words!" Bob yelled suddenly. Jay forced out the words as the pain grew almost unbearable, "With God as my witness, I accept the child into my body." He collapsed as the final word was uttered. "It is done." Metatron fell to his knees, then sprawled forward. Bob ran to Jay's side and took both the thin pale hands. He was trembling from head to toe, but tried to hide his fear as he placed a gentle kiss on Jay's now cold lips. "Is he...dead?" Bob asked as Metatron rose up. "No." Metatron shook his head and breathed deeply, "He should be waking up in a few moments...he's been through a major trauma." "Bethany?" Rufus looked into the angel's eyes. "She's in a better place...where she was meant to be." Metatron bowed his head as Bethany's body began to dematerialize. "And I know she understands." Jay's eyes slid open and he stared up to identify the face that hovered above him. "Am I dead?" Bob smiled and shook his head; squeezing Jay's hand's tightly. Then, he let go and placed a hand on the man's stomach..."You're pregnant." Jay smiled, still in a mental haze. "I'm gonna be a mommy." Bob laughed slightly; "I'm going to be a dad." "You hear that little snoochies?" Jay rubbed his belly, "You're gonna have two daddies that are also mommies." Metatron cleared his throat and interrupted the sickening moment, "How do you feel Jay?" Jay sighed and sat up gently, "Like I've been hit by a bus." He tried to stand and ended up slouching against Bob.. "Now, about that wedding..." Serendipity grinned, "Who gets to wear the dress?" ***** TBC *****
